A combination of a long period of neglect and the type of materials used means that much of the sea wall along Free Wharf has failed and is now beyond repair. As a result of this and the need to have flood defences built to a higher standard in order to meet the increased risk of flooding, a strong flood defence must be an integral part of our designs.
Our significant investment in flood defence will not only protect the homes at Free Wharf but will also enable further regeneration along Shoreham Harbour, and importantly protect existing homes and communities in the area.
